The name of the site, waxmat, is my non-official and non-phonetic Latin alphabet transliteration of the Bulgarian word for “chess”. At least, I think it is. I noticed it when visiting some non-English chess sites. It appears that in Russian it is spelled (in the Cyrillic alphabet, of course) waxmatbl, hence my user name. At the time I thought it was clever, and in any case chess.com was already taken.
